Operating and care tips for the use of TIM on iPods and iPads

All Apple products are high end consumer products and engineered for long and extensive use within heavy demand environments such as restaurants and hospitality industry.

Please read the following care tips to ensure that the device enjoyes a long service life.

Battery life

  1. Turn on Auto-brightness

The iPod and iPhone have an ambient light sensor that adjust the brightness of the screen based on the light around it.

To both save battery and make it easier to see. Turn auto-brightness on and you'll save battery because your screen will need to use less power in dark places.

Find it in settings > app > brightness & wallpapers > Auto-brightness on

  2. Reduce screen brightness

You can control the default brightness of your iPod screen with this slider.

Needless to say, the brighter the default setting for the screen, the more battery it requires. Keep the screen dimmer to conserve more of your battery.

Find it in settings > Brightness & wallpapers

  3. Auto-lock sooner

You can set your iPod to automatically go to sleep (feature called auto lock) after a certain amount of time.

The sooner it sleeps, the less power is used to run the screen or other services. Try setting auto lock to 1 or 2 minutes.

Find it in settings > General > Auto-lock > Tap your preference

  4. What happens when my battery runs out?

TIM will automatically log you out and clear your profile when only 5% of the battery charge remains.

This ensures your profile from being locked.

Make sure you have sufficient iOS devices so you can continue while others recharge.

An extra battery pack or the Linea Pro can extend your battery life significantly.

For more information about extending your battery life, please refer to Apple's guidelines

Enable restrictions

For several purposes it might be wise to apply restrictions to some apps and features. We therefore recommend to disable the usage of safari or any other internet applications.

For more information about enabling restrictions, please refer to Apple's guidelines

Protection

  1. Use an iPod case

As the iPod will be heavily used in a stressfull environment it is highly recommended to case the iPod.

  2. Use a screen protector

A screen protector is applied directly on the front screen of the iPod and drastically improves the life of the screen (no scratches, smears etc)

  3. Keep the iPod in a designated place

If the person working with the iPod is wearing an apron or belt, create a specific pouch or clip to store the iPod when not in use

Miscellaneous

  1. Can I run TIM on my iPad?

Of course you can! Did you know TIM XL is also available in the Apple store and is specially designed to run on an iPad or iPad mini?

However, if you want to run TIM note that it will run as an iPhone/iPod touch application, meaning it will not use full screen.

You can enlarge the screen with the 2X button, but it doens't give you more buttons or room. TIM was designed for the iPod touch so we advise to use TIM XL as it dedicated interface.

  2. Who can I contact to get a TIM license?

Send an email to order@indexsystems.nl in order to get a quote or license and we will get back to you!

  3. Do I have to log in and out every time I use TIM?

Not at all. The TIM device will remember your login so you can just put it away after every transaction and open it up where you left off.

However, keep in mind that Aloha POS does not allow a user to be logged in on more than one terminal and TIM counts as a terminal.

Therefore, Aloha POS will not allow you to work on a physical terminal while you are still logged in to your TIM app.
